Norton 360 is the consumer security line that Symantec once developed and that now belongs to Gen Digital. After Symantec sold its enterprise division in 2019, the consumer business continued as NortonLifeLock and later took the name Gen. This edition is built to protect a family or shared household from one account. It combines real-time malware protection, a firewall, an encrypted VPN, a password manager, parental supervision and backup of important files from Windows PCs. The European version includes 75 GB of cloud storage for that backup, while the American version of the same plan lists a different figure, so the regional label matters when you compare offers.
Most of the time the software runs in the background. After installation, a setup assistant guides the user through switching on the VPN, the backup and the password vault. A typical day then consists of small moments: a laptop connects to hotel or train Wi-Fi and the VPN encrypts the connection, a login form is filled from the password vault, or a warning appears when a text message links to a known scam page.
The parent in the household usually becomes the administrator. From the Norton account in a browser or the mobile app, that person creates a profile for each child, sets time limits and website rules, and turns on School Time during remote lessons so that learning sites stay reachable while distractions are paused. On the family PC, documents and photos are copied to the cloud automatically, which gives a second copy if the local drive fails or files are encrypted by ransomware.

Deluxe introduces Parental Control and Dark Web Monitoring together with 50 GB of storage. Premium offers the same feature set as Deluxe, is designed for larger families and raises the backup allowance to 75 GB. Advanced adds identity services such as restoration support and social media monitoring, plus 200 GB of storage, and is worth the step up only if those services are offered where you live.
Cloud Backup and SafeCam are Windows features. They are not available on macOS, on Windows in S mode or on Windows computers with ARM processors, and Parental Control is also not offered on ARM-based Windows machines. The backup stores selected files and documents, so a restorable image of a complete system drive requires a separate imaging tool. Dark Web Monitoring is not offered in every country, and some countries restrict the use of VPN services.
Is there any feature in Premium that Deluxe does not have?
In the European line-up, both editions share the same protection and privacy functions, including Parental Control and Dark Web Monitoring. Premium differs in its larger cloud storage and its focus on bigger households.
Can I back up a Mac with the included cloud storage?
No, Norton Cloud Backup works only on Windows PCs. On a Mac you can combine the suite with the backup tool built into macOS while Norton handles malware protection, the firewall and the VPN.
When is the Advanced edition the better choice?
